These are pictures I took in the spring of 2000. Our trip, like most, began in Cairo as we visited the Citadel in the oldest part of the city. We were greeted by local children also visiting the site, and they were more than pleased to share as many *hellos* as we would answer. It was a warm welcome to this exotic place.
