This photo journal features the Choeung Ek killing field memorial which is located 15 kms southwest of Phnom Penh. From April 17, 1975 until January 7, 1979 (immediately following the end of the Vietnam War), the ultra-Communist Khmer Rouge regime (i.e. Red Khmer) led by Pol Pot, controlled all of Cambodia.
