They say that there are three great zoos in the world, and one of them is the San Diego Zoo, just 90 minutes south of us by train.

So we took the Amtrak to San Diego with four of our grand-kids and their parents. Every visit to the zoo is different. On any day you'll see some animals, but not some others. We couldn't get good pictures of the lions or tigers, but we saw plenty of birds and hippos and reptiles.
