After introducing myself at the Rusumo Falls border with Rwanda and presenting my New Zealand passport to the friendly Tanzanian customs officer, I was helpfully told that my country was not one that existed. Twenty minutes later after the officer took my passport outback, she returned thankfully admitting that my country did exist, but that in the seven years she'd worked there she'd never had a Kiwi pass through her gates.
