- There's actualy 2 small, square ponds at the back of the palace. *At a cost of 12,000 casualties, the Allies captured 13,000 Franco-Bavarian troops and killed, wounded, or caused to be drowned (in the Danube river) approximately 18,000 more. Overall, the Battle of Blenheim saved Vienna from the French & demonstrated that the armies of the French king Louis XIV were by no means irresistible.
