This area is called "La Frontera" because during the Moslem invasions of the 14th century, this area was often astride "the line" dividing the Christian from the Moslem armies and influences. Consequently, Jerez de La Frontera was both a part of Christian and Moslem occupations and armies, "changing sides" many times over and over. Those beautiful blossoms belong to the lovely jacaranda tree.
