We traveled north from La Fortuna to the Rio Frio river. We cruised along the river in a boat to see the wildlife of the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. We saw more animals and birds here and from closer distances than what we saw in Tortuguero National Park.

We went north along the river upto the Costa Rica/Nicaragua border. The border is clearly marked by a pillar and a large sign. We posed for pictures at the border.
