This photo journal is the first of several journals featuring the small colonial city of Alamos, where I spent 3 months last winter (mid January to mid April 2010). This photo journal features the two plazas.
The small city of Alamos, population about 10,000, is situated 475 miles south of Tucson, Arizona. Known as the City of Portals, Alamos is tucked away in a picturesque valley at 1,360 feet elevation in the foothills of the Sierra Madre in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Because it is located in the ecologically rich zone
