Sightseeing in Sonora picture - to town & Plaza Alameda, honors one of Mexico's favorite presidents. Juarez (1806-1872) of Zapotec Indian parentage, was orphaned as a child then raised & educated by priests. As a lawyer, he worked for agricultural reform & the rights of Indian populations. He was made president in 1858 & was responsible for overthrowing the French.
