<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> The former Ceremonial Hall<br> Sightseeing in Prague picture - is one of the few buildings that were saved after the city decided to completely demolish the quarter in 1893 because it had become a rat-infested slum &#38; major health hazard. All that was left was 6 synagogues, the old Jewish cemetery, the Ceremonial Hall and the Old Jewish Town Hall, now collectively known as the Jewish Museum. (The Museum has one of the most extensive collections of Judaic art in the world.) The Ceremonial hall, built in 1911-1912 in pseudo-Romanesque style, currently holds the mortuary of the Old Jewish Cemetery and a permanent exhibition of the Burial Society founded in Prague in the 16th century by Rabbi Loew in 1564.
