<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> Trinity Column in Malostranske square<br> Sightseeing in Prague picture - Trinity column, aka the Mary Column, was erected in 1715 &#38; stands in the middle of this small square in front of St. Nicholas Church (on the left). Many others like it were erected in European cities with a strong Catholic presence in the 1700s &#38; 1800s. Some were built to honor the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Mary, or just the church itself. But many, including this one, were erected to thank the Virgin Mary for ending the terrible plague that raged in Europe in 1713/14. This 20m column has a radiant triangle at the top, plus statues of several Czech patron saints encircling the column including St. Wenceslas &#38; St. John of Nepomu. There are three fountains at the foot of the column that symbolize the sources of life, charity and salvation. </div></nolayer></noembed>
