On April 9th, 2011 I joined the Sierra Club for a 20+ mile hike with 5000 feet of elevation gain to the summit of Rose Peak through three contiguous regional parks. Another hiker and I added a short side trip to Murietta Falls. We started in Del Valle Regional Park, ascended nearly four thousand feet to Rose Peak, and meandered down the slopes of green, flowered, undulating hills of the Ohlone Regional Wilderness and Sunol Regional Wilderness, ending at the Sunol Visitor Center. We saw many raptors and ground mammals along the way.
