The islands of Los Roques are located about 70 nautical miles NNE of the coast off La Guaira. All of the islands but one, El Gran Roque (the main island), are flat like the islands of the Bahamas. They are surrounded by lots of relatively shallow water and coral reefs. Long white beaches and mangroves are found in great numbers.
