Redwood National and State Parks
On June 21st, 2011 Clara and I had lunch in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, just off the Avenue of the Giants. The first picture here was taken from our lunch spot. The rest of the photos are from our hike, the next day, on the Boy Scout Tree Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The trail passes through dense, old-growth forest, full of giant redwoods, carpets of sorrel and flowers, and tables of ferns as it proceeds to Boy Scout Tree and Fern Falls. At the base of Fern Falls is a little pool with dead almond-scented millipedes.
