… or National Assembly (l’Assemblée Nationale) as they prefer to call it. [See my earlier note re the word “national”.] It is U-shaped, facing eastward with north and south side wings. It was built in 1886 in Second Empire style, and is open to the public. This photo, from the south-east corner across the front, shows some of the two dozen life-sized bronze statues of important figures from Quebec’s history that have been gradually installed in niches along its façade over the years.
