Maurice Duplessis
Sightseeing in Québec City picture - This larger-than-lifesize statue, by Emil Brunet in 1960, stands alone in front of the south wing of the Legislature. Perhaps the most controversial figure in Canadian history, he was Quebecs longest serving Premier, from 1936-1939 and again from 1944-1959. The bridge across the St. Lawrence at his home town of Trois Rivières is named in his honour. To find out why he is so controversial, read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Duplessis .
