We visited Tsavo West in September 2010. It was near the end of our month long safari and the luxury of the lodge was a really nice break from the camping and "hotels" we had stayed in much of the time. There wasn't a lot of animals, either in number or variety, but we did have some very good sightings and the scenery was great.
