From January 6, 2012 my wife and I spent two weeks at the Sonesta Great Bay Resort at the Dutch side of this small Caribbean island. Although showing its age this 270 room resort is well maintained and we'd both go back in a minute's notice. Both staff and food were generally excellent. The majority of holiday goers when we stayed were from Canada. Almost all staff spoke excellent English and were able to speak several other languages. The resort is immediatly across the bay from the cruise ship dock and our waterfront room gave us a different view every day. Downtown Philipsburg is a 20 minute walk from the resort and is filled with many duty free shops. I have attached numerous pictures of the resort, Philipsburg and the Simpson Bay Airport area.
