In January 2012, we spent 3 days in Dunedin after leaving the Diamond Princess. The cruise ship went on to Akaroa and eventually to Auckland. We followed at a slower pace as we had 4 weeks to see as much of the South and North Islands as we could squeeze in.
As we had the time, we went on the Taieri Gorge Railway the day after we arrived. The train goes to Middlemarch on Friday. On other days of the week it does a shorter run to Pukerangi. We recommend the full trip - it is a great day out when the weather is fine.
