We drove from Queenstown to Twizel. When we arrived at Twizel the weather was so fine that we went straight to Mt Cook. There not a cloud in the sky and in fact it was too hot to sit outside - we ate sandwiches in the car after parking in some shade!
After lunch we walked for half an hour or so before the heat got to us - so we will have to return to do the longer walks next time.
