For us, it was also a great opportunity to buy furnitures & wall frames because we have a lot of big & beautiful, museum-type tapestries (mainly French 17th) as well as paintings by Leonardo, Michelangelo, Botticelli, & etc.
Unfortunately, frames sold anywhere in the U.S. are SO EXPENSIVE, I stupidly had my "Lake Como" tapestry (9ft. x 4 ft.) framed for $2K when you can easily get an even bigger & more beautiiful frames in China with lots of intricate carvings for a much lesser price.
For instance, a $2K frame in the U.S. only costs +$200 in China!
Moreover, the frames they sell in the U.S. most likely came from China!
Moral to the story:
If you want elegant frames, furnitures, & all sorts of other stuffs except electronics, cell phones, cameras, & computers (since anything electronic from China easliy breaks down), then just go to China where it's 15-20 x cheaper.
Most things sold in the U.S. comes from China anyway, cost of freight is not so bad & that the Chinese really packages well, nothing got broken including our fine big vases which are even taller than Yao Ming!
Indeed, those very big & impressive vases were so cheap [only $300] but they sell for $4-5K in America which is so ridiculous.
Anyway, it was while getting our frames packaged at the manufacturing area of Beijing (which is away from the glitter & glamor tourist areas) that my brother frantically called me saying "Mitt Romney's here, Mitt Romney's here!"
At first, I didn't believed him but was so surprised to see that it was indeed Mitt Romney.
Hope you like the pics & the short story of this article, thanks;-)
