Dahlquist Building (1905) Sightseeing in Washington picture - at 1311-1313 North State St was one of the first reinforced concrete buildings erected in Bellingham. It was erected for Dahlquist's Bellingham Bay Grocery Company with rooms to rent on the upper floors. The south side, on the left, was the grocery store & the north side (now State Street Bar) was converted into a garage and auto dealership with the basement converted to hold up to 30 cars. The red brick for this building came from the building next door that was demolished after a fire.
