. . . but still under a mostly cloudless sky, How different things look, with the mistral now wildly blowing. This northerly, and violent wind is powerful and dangerous! Returning to Aix from Avignon, I felt some of its power. Having stepped out of our bus too take some pictures, I had my glasses ripped off my nose and deposited some six to eight feet away on a well-packed gravel lot where we had stopped. Had they landed somewhere farther off, in the grass or among some bushes, I might have had a hard time retrieving them. Even though the sky in this photo, as it often is when the mistral blows, its colour and that of the water has certainly changed from their usually friendly blue. In the background, once more is Le Chateau d'If.
