Aberdeen Floating Village is located at the Aberdeen Harbor in the Southern District of Hong Kong. The harbor contains approximately 600 junks, which house an estimated 6,000 people. Most tourists visiting Hong Kong take a boat trip in the area in a small boat called a Sampan. I did the same with a tour group. We preferred a shorter ride (to save time) to cruise around the typhoon shelter where the two famous floating restaurants of Aberdeen - the Jumbo Floating Restaurant and the Tai Pak Floating Restaurant - are located. They are collectively called the Jumbo Kingdom where many movies have been shot including the James Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun and Jackie Chans The Protector. The Jumbo Kingdom has been patronized by many celebrities like John Wayne, Tom Cruise, and Queen Elizabeth II to name a few. The Jumbo Kingdom is spectacularly illuminated at night.
In Aberdeen Fishing Village ultra-modern buildings (skyscrapers) and amenities co-exist with traditional fishermen's dwellings in fishing boats! Overall, the sight is spectacular and the experience is enthralling.
