Along the Traveller's Rest interpretive trail, state parks staff have built replicas of items L&C would have seen during their visits. The Salish, a Flathead Indian tribe, were also encamped here and provided hospitality to the party. Their descendants probably regret they didn't have a more stringent enforcement policy regarding illegal immigration. For those not familiar with Indian tribes, please don't get up in arms. Flathead is a term used to describe a group of three inter-related tribes in the Rocky Mountain area and is still in common use today. I do not know its derivations but, as far as I know, it has no pejorative meaning.
