The province of Ilocos Norte is part of the Ilocos and Pangasinan region in Luzon. It is one of Luzon's most beautiful provinces, with its many historical sites, such as its old Spanish churches and museums, as well as natural attractions, such as the famous beautiful beaches of Pagudpud. The famous Paoay Church is regarded by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Its capital is Laoag City. Ilocos Norte is best known as the home province of former president Ferdinand Marcos. Laoag, also known as "Sunshine City," is the capital and hub of the province. It is primarily a commercial city.
