Bristlecone Pines<br> California--Southern picture - Notice how healthy the trees in the foreground look? I was surprised by how many healthy bristlecone pines we saw. Sure, there are the 4600 year old writhing, gnarly ancients, but there are also 200 and 300 year old trees with no damage, holding full branches of green needles and bristly pine cones.
