On May 20, 2011, I had the opportunity to take a half day tour of Nevis from Saint Kitts. Nevis is an island in the Caribbean Sea. It is located near the northern end of the Lesser Antilles archipelago about 237 miles east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 50 miles west of Antigua. The 36 square mile island is part of the inner arc of the Leeward Islands chain of the West Indies. Nevis is derived from a Spanish name, "Nuestra Señora de las Nieves," which means, "Our Lady of the Snows." It is not known who chose this ... (more)
