The Canary Islands pine is perfectly adapted to the demands of this environnment. Roots tolerate well a dry and sloppy substrate, and needles are long enough to enable the mist to condensate efficiently and drop on the ground. In addition, fire from volcanic eruptions has selected it to survive after having got burned most of its surface. Nobody knows how to grow here as this kind of pine knows.
