Luca Beltrami, Italian architect, was born in Milan in 1854 and died in Rome in 1933. He was one the greatest representatives of the historical restoration, a movement that supported the necessity to base the restoration of the monuments over the precise historical documentation. Due to him were restored among others, such monuments as Rocca di Soncino (1882-1885), the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (1886-1895) and Castello Sforzesco in Milan (1884-1897). Among his architectural works should be especially mentioned Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Venezia (1896-1899) and Palazzo della Banca Commerciale Italiana, both in Milan. </div></nolayer></noembed>
