Although the San Diego Zoo may capture the spotlight, the Wild Animal Park is certainly no less spectacular and, in many ways, even superior. It all starts with a drive out to the town of Escondido (about 45 minutes from San Diego). Parking is $6.00, and admission is expensive, although not as much as the zoo. My family bought the two-park ticket when we visited the zoo two days earlier, and that was a good bargain, as you could just show the ticket and get in.
