Here is a nice hike to the Superstition Mountains in the Lost Dutchman Park outside Apache Junction. It is due east of Phoenix. It takes about half an hour each way to hike to Flatiron Mountain, past a beautiful display of cholla, prickly pear and saguaro cactus.
