My.Chew Jetty

A collection of water villages found along Weld Quay, that has been in existence since the 19th century. Stilted wooden shacks, linked by planked walkways, are home to generations. They are called clan jetties.Altogether there are seven clan jetties along Weld Quay: Lim Jetty, Chew Jetty, Tan Jetty,Tan Jetty,Lee Jetty, Mixed surname Jetty, Yeoh Jetty and Koay Jetty.

Fishing villages are such a wonderful sight especially boats & houses on stilts ! There must be more of them in Sabah. I visited Penang in 2001 en route to Medan, Sumatra [Indonesia] but only saw the fine temples & Penang Hill. There are fine articles here of Penang especially the beach but this is the 1st article I saw houses on stilts. Now I feel terrible for having missed it & the beach. Although Malaysia is a bit costly, it's nevertheless worth it. Cheers!:)
