I was in Hamburg on and off for about two months during September and October. Coming from Canada, I first saw the city as an industrial wasteland but after some time I began to adjust and appreciate it in its context. Hamburg was bombed heavily during world war two and was rebuilt very quickly to accomodate the needs for the port and industries that rely on the canals for water.
