Ever wonder what it was like growing up with your SPORTS IDOL? Imagine what it was like growing up as Ken Griffey Jr. or maybe Brett Hull. Well I did but with a MINOR twist. My sports hero just happened to be my MOTHER! A fine woman, an excellent mother and the best damn ballplayer I ever met. So much so she was asked to join the United States Ladies Professional Baseball League (hence the name of the article) but chose to join the Navy instead to help defend her country. And while this article only covers her baseball career she was also gifted athlete in other areas; badminton (she won numerous titles while in the Navy) bowling and was an excellent POOL player to boot! I swear if I had 1/2 her talent....... I'd be finishing off a GREAT career in the majors right now. And while you may think this is just the bragging of a mothers son.....well you may be right on that point....obviosly I'm NOT the only one who thinks so. This May 1st she will be inducted, along with her teamates (which includes my Father, William Douglas Henderson II, who helped coach her team and my AUNT JOAN) into the Manitoba Soft Ball Hall of Fame!!! Unfortunately I missed the dealine for individual induction this year but if you look at ALL the pics I'm sure you will agree with me that SHOULDN'T be a problem! So call me a mommas boy if you want to but all I'll say is "YUP AND DAMN PROUD OF IT TOO!!!!"
