Many visitors to our beautiful country arrive in Auckland, then visit Rotorua,Christchurch and Queenstown but think again before you head south and spend some time discovering less publicized areas Though Auckland is a pleasant city with attractive harbour, its good to get away and find the essence of Aotearoa(New Zealand) Just 20 minutes from downtown visit Tititrangi a lovely village in the ranges with glorious views, boutique shops and restaurents, then on to the Waitakere ranges unspoilt west coast beaches and Henderson Valley vinyards. Driving North via the West coast past the huge Kaipara Harbour up to Matakoe Kauri Gum museum and the mighty Tane Mahuta (largest tree in NZ) stop for a rest or overnight at Omapere and drive on to the North. Depending on time choose from the Far North-90 mile beach and Cape Reinga(lands end and meeting of two oceans) or stay awhile in pretty Bay of Islands visiting KeriKeri, Paihia (I recomend taking Darryls Dinner Cruise just for the entertainment and atmosphere alone)Take your own hired charter boat or catch the Kings ferry to Russell and really enjoy the gentle climate and pretty islands that abound. Return to Auckland down the East Coast visiting Tutukaka, Whangerei Matapouri etc. If you need help just contact me, I am an English immigrant who loves living in NZ, I have been involved in tourism for many years.
