ILOCOS NORTE

Ilocos Norte has a land area of 3,622 sq. km., bordered by Ilocos Sur (south), Abra (southeast), Cagayan (east) and the South China Sea (west.

In 1591, when the Spanish conquistadors had Manila more or less under their control, they began looking for new sites to conquer. Legaspi's grandson, Juan De Salcedo, volunteered to lead one of these expeditions. Together with 8 armed boats and 45 men, the 22 year old voyager headed north. Just a quick thanks for sharing the pics. I was six when I left the Phillippines (San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte) and grew up on Oahu, Hi. I now reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.) and though my recollections of my birthplace are very few I promised to one day go back to see (I've never been back). Again thanks for the pictures--a delight to see.

i love the photos and the aim of the one/s who took them whether direct or indirect,it showed me that a lot of Filipinos give so much importance to our own culture. i am from batac, ilocos norte and would love to enhance this kind of attitude towards ilocos norte and the philippines as a whole. we should all be proud of what we have and where we come from.i love the philippines i just hope everybody from here would do the same.
