Havasupai.. it's an 8 mile hike to the Supai village and another 2-3 miles hike to get to this little piece of heaven. No one said getting to paradise was easy.. Try doing that all in a day... Yes, we made it out alive... it's insanity personified but we did it anyway... Starting out on Friday night from Phoenix to reach town of Seligman for a night, and then drive from 6 am to the Hualapai Hilltop to reach around 8. Parked the car and off we went.. The temperature was still nice and cool (60 deg in May). Nice rock formations kept us busy oohing and aahing throughout most of the 8 mile hike. Fatigue sets in by the time we reached the Supai Village. Anticipation and exhiliration sort of kicks in shortly after when you start to see the river gushing crystal clear blue green waters by the trail.. 2 more miles? We could care less if we lose our feet..(which were throbbing with excruciating pain in midday heat.. pushing 100 deg).. first stop Havasu Falls... Stopped me in my tracks, it was THAT beautiful... the place was just awesome.. (emphasis on the AWE...)There was quite a crowd there already but we didn't care... off with the shoes and 'sizzzzzzzz'... words cannot describe the feeling of the cool cool water on tired blistered feet... took a few minutes to soak in the splendour of the falls.. it was like MTV... impossibly beautiful settings with equally beautiful people sunbathing and generally showing off their well toned bodies... I guess you have to be pretty fit to get here in the first place..We lingered till around 3 when we HAD to leave if we were to make it back to the trailhead by night fall.. went on to Navajo falls which was just minutes away.. once u've seen perfection, Navajo looks pretty lame.. should have done Navajo first... The hike back was painful and exhausting to say the least but we could die happy having seen what to expect in the afterlife..We had lots of time to stop and ponder what we have achieved in the MANY MANY MANY breaks hike up..(~1000 feet elevation). Oh yeah, it was night fall before we made it back to our car but we didn't care... We did it!
