Same captain, different ship & food
You're right, Ellie. That captain previously was on the Marco Polo. A number of people chose this cruise because they liked him so much on others . But this ship was never the Marco Polo . It was the Island Princess when we sailed on it along the Mexican Riviera thirty years ago. By the way, the food on the Discovery is just fine.

Bob, were you on the Marco Polo? That looked like its captain (the first one), tho' a bit older than when I sailed on it down the E. coast of Africa. I didn't think the food was so great, maybe it's better now. I didn't know it had been sold to NCR.

Wonderful images and comments
Hi, Bob -- I thoroughly enjoyed your words and pictures here -- you have truly captured The Cruise Passenger as a Species. I don't think your subjects will love them as much as I did, but you have told it like it is. I know. I've been there and done that, and have probably looked, at times, just as comical as some of the folks you have skewed on the end of your lens here.

I am anxious to learn more about Discovery from you. It is supposed to be what the Marco Polo once was -- before it was sold to NCR. We have sailed on the Marco Polo twice -- and never will again. I've heard only good things about Discovery to date, (and also good things about the new Regatta, of Oceania Cruises. We like those medium sized ships.) And I truly enjoyed these photos. It looks like you had a wonderful trip. I am probably not as old as you, but I too wonder what happened to people not dressing properly on airplanes. Not neccessarily a shirt and tie, but not jogging shorts and t-shirts!
