The building in front is the shrine. Meiji-jingu is the largest shrine in Japan. The area on the right end of the building is a place where one can purchase good-luck charms. Nearby is a hut with a trough inside where you can wash your hands with ladles as a cleansing ritual. Washing and purchasing charms are optional.
