I recently visited Castle Howard, which in itself became famous for its part in the great tv series Brideshead Revisited, but as you will probably know the name Howard goes many years before that and that 2 of its former occupants were wives of Henry VIII. alas they died !!!

I liked this estate very much although some parts of the grounds require a bit more manicure to bring it up to the standard of chatsworth. Its well worth a visit, and is adequately equipped for you to have a grand day finding out how the other half lived
