If and when most people think of Taiwan, they think of the manufacuring, crowded, industrial country where everything seems to be *Made in Taiwan*. This is definitely not what I found. Taiwan is a beautiful island, especially along its coastline. These pictures were taken in Taitung and Kenting. Both of these cities lie in the southern part of the island. Kenting is a resort area (mostly made up of Japanese businessmen), and Taitung is a small rustic town right at the tip. If your adventures happen to take you to Kenting, I suggest spending some extra money to stay at the resort, relax, and have fun at their incredible indoor water park. If you head the other direction however, and find yourself in Taitung, make sure to meet and visit with the locals. They will probably invite you to their natural swimming pool that is actually just part of a river with a concrete pool on top of it! Nothing like crabs grabbing at your toes!
