Kiyomizu-Dera Temple (Temple of Pure Water), is a famous landmark and temple located in Kyoto (the ancient imperial capitol of Japan - kyo means capitol in Japanese...Tokyo is the western capitol, Kyoto the Eastern capitol). The water, which rises from a spring located in the temple and pours from three outlets, is reputed to possess the power to grant one of three wishes: long life and health, wisdom and intellect, or wealth. You are only allowed to drink from one of the three outlets if you want the wish to come true, so you must choose carefully! This view of the temple shows the famous pillored veranda of the main building. Constructed in 1633 entirely of wood, it does not contain a single nail!.
