We arrived at the Vietnam Memorial at first light in the morning. It is the day after Memorial Day. There are thousands of flowers, flags, photos, letters, and other memories lain along the length of the wall by family and friends of loved ones. The sight is a very deeply moving one. Some people are crying, others staring, some are looking for the name of a loved one, husband, father.

It is very somber and quiet as you walk along the length of the overpowering simpleness of the structure. It is an experience which embeds itself in your memory.

The adjacent statues of the soldiers and the nurses are likewise very moving. They are also covered in flowers, etc. by husbands, wives, friends, mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters.
