Natural History

The north bank of Forfar Loch is a haven for wildlife throughout the year. In Spring , elder, hawthorn and blackthorn are in blossom and they provide numerous nesting sites. In autumn the bushes are laden with berries which provide winter feeding for many birds and mammals. Along the north track, a series of viewing platforms offer views of wildfowl feeding areas and past St. Margarets Inch, there are impressive views along the whole length of the Loch.
