The city is littered with temples, many of them are in ruins, discarded and neglected. The following temples are fairly well preserved, but not managed properly.

Lingaraj Temple :- The temple is named after the *Linga* or phallic symbol enshirines in it. Built in 617 - 657 AD, it soars up to a height of about 54 meteres, dominates the skyline for kilometers around.
