The endangered Hawaiian goose, Nene. Non-native species have almost wiped out this bird endemic to Hawaii. They may not be around much longer. Despite road warnings in the VNP, we didn't think they actually existed any more until coming across a whole gaggle of two dozen birds grazing on a golf course just outside the VNP.
