We had not been to the island since our childhood bucket and spade holidays but could not resist the lure of The Who and David Bowie at the Isle of Wight's excellent music festival. Our stay was extended to a week to take in some sights on the island. As we had experienced crowds of 35000 people at the festival we chose to head for some of the quieter spots during the following days. The early June weather was kind to us and we intend to be back for another visit in 2005.
