Definitely a place to visit with a backpack and several dozen rolls of film. Tour travel to the country should be discouraged as the military government controls almost all big tourist money in the country and uses the proceeds to export Opium and heroin and has an awful record at keeping peace inside the countries boundaries. A democracy would no doubt improve the country as it lags behind more every year.
