An enormous ruined city covering over 42 sq. miles that contains more than 4,000 temples, shrines and other religious markers lies along the Irrawaddy River. Sacked by Kubla Khan in 1288 this was the centre of one of the world's most glorious and powerful Kingdoms for over three centuries.
